Three things I love – black patent leather, clutches and Mimco. So fair to say that as soon as I saw this, I had to have it. I’ve also wanted an oversized envelope clutch as soon as I even heard they existed. I blame Ashley Olsen (or is that Mary-Kate?!) for making them look so good.

Unfortunately I’m on a strict boyfriend-enforced no-buy. He also doesn’t understand clutches. The conversation always goes something like this:

BF: “Why do you want a big bag without any handles?”

*demonstration of me tucking the clutch under my armpit, then pretending to drink champagne and shake hands/wave to my friends/put on lipstick at the same time*

Me: “See, it’s better than a bag with handles. And look how much lip gloss I can fit in here!”

Needless to say it was a great surprise when I came home on our 7th anniversary to this:

Made from patent cow leather…

I love the spring-loaded lock…

…and the slots for credit cards and ID…

…and the zipper at the top so that nothing falls out.

The Mimco Molten Envelope Clutch retails for $229 and is available in Black, Russian Red and Camel (all patent leather). Purchase online at www.mimco.com.au or in person at a Mimco boutique or David Jones store.

Mimco Sale Haul

Mimco is without a doubt my favourite store for statement jewellery and accessories. I know that I can always pop into one of their boutiques and find that perfect piece that will lift and transform my outfit into something fabulous. Needless to say, when the annual post-Christmas sale bobbed up, I was one of the first in to place an order. Here’s what I got:

Revolution Mim Purse in Armadillo

A quilted Chanel-esque purse in a beautiful neutral beige-grey tone. I’m quite smitten with the look and feel of this purse, so much so that I’m thinking about writing a letter to Mimco to ask them to make an iPad cover in the same finish! I’m planning on using this for days/nights when I want to go out with minimal baggage. It’s got just enough room to fit the iPhone, keys, cash, lipgloss and a tram ticket and has a zip all the way around so that nothing slips out. So beautiful!

Facet Cuff in Jet

This one really surprised me when it arrived – the quality is outstanding! I was expecting it to be made of the usual plastic/resin with a metallic overspray, but it’s actually a heavy brushed gunmetal. The detail on this cuff is quite extraordinary and it’s very eye-catching. This will go brilliantly with the tribal-glamour look I plan on rolling out this year!

One thing I’m kicking myself for not purchasing? The Highly Evolved necklace.

I know the black version is still around but I’m desperate to get my hands on one in the lighter colouring. I’ll be traversing Melbourne CBD tomorrow in the hope of getting lucky!
